There was much dismay in the parking lot from the hundreds, yes hundreds, that didn't get in because they didn't buy tickets in advance. Don't make that mistake this Sunday when the Rollergirls go at it again at The Rollercade on Recoletta. Alamo City Rollergirls: Missyfits vs. Dragon Divas; Prim Reapers vs. The Violations. You may have heard of the petition going round in support of having locally-owned business on the rather rather than a bunch of national chains. As you can imagine, I am all for local venues. I would hate to see Dolores Del Rio and The Esquire squeezed out as rents keep rising. Who's playing at SxSW in Austin? Officially- these bands. Here's a pretty good list of unofficial showcases that don't require wristbands. BY far, your best resource is to pick up a copy of Third Coast Music Magazine. Or just hang out on S. Congress near The Continental. You'll get dialed in quickly.
